Are group entries allowed?
Yes! You may enter as a group (Duo or 3+), but keep in mind that each person’s cosplay will be judged individually, not as a group unless you’re entering as a Craftsmanship group and all members meet eligibility.
Are skits allowed?
Yes! Skits and performances are welcome.
Time limit: 3 minutes.
Pre-recorded audio is allowed (but not required). No live mics will be available.
I’m not sure if I’m Novice, Journeyman, or Master. What do I pick?
When in doubt, choose Novice. Our judges or cosplay coordinators may move you to a higher division if they feel your skills warrant it.
What is Prejudging?
Also known as Workmanship Judging, this is a separate judging session held before the contest. Judges will assess:
- Overall construction quality
- Material use and difficulty
- Detailing, techniques, and finish
Progress photos or documentation are highly encouraged for craftsmanship entries.
Can I enter with the same costume I’ve used in previous years?
Yes—but you will be asked how the costume has been updated or improved since its last appearance. Bringing progress photos or notes to show changes is strongly encouraged.
Are there prizes for winning? What are they?
Yes! 1st Place Division Winners, Best in Theme, and People’s Choice will receive a trophy and free registration to next year’s Anime Fargo. Runner-up awards will receive a certificate of recognition. Additional prizes may be announced closer to the event.
Will my photos be posted online?
Yes. By entering the contest, you agree that Anime Fargo may use photos or video from the contest for promotional purposes, including online sharing.
